Subject: The Who on Tour
Written By: cables on 02/25/06 at 12:04 pm
Got my tickets booked yesterday. :)
The whole family's going so it's costing an arm and a leg. :\'(
But it's about time my sone went to see them so he'll know why he's called Tommy! ;D
Why are concert tickets so expensive these days? Inflation in this country is about 2% so why are concert tickets going up by so much more?

Concerts can be very expensive lately, especially if you want the good floor seats. I am interested in seeing The Who, so I'm gonna look at thier tour chedule and see if they're coming to Nor-Cal. I hope it's a great show

That's awesome! Where are you going to see them?

As much as I hate to say this, it's because they know there's enough people out there who are willing to pay that kind of money to see them live, including myself. I haven't seen any U.S. tour dates posted yet, but if The Who plays anywhere near the Midwest, I may just have to make a road trip this year. :)

Yeah they are pricing some concert goers right out of the market. We paid $85 to see Paul a couple months ago and those were the cheaps seats. That's kind of my max, I just dont think it's right, but people pay, so they charge.

Liverpool. They have a big music festival every summer: "The Summer Pops". It's set in a very large tent. This is the first time in 35 years The Who have played in Liverpool.

You're certainly right there - they're doing two nights in Liverpool and I was told last night the tickets for both nights sold out within half an hour of going on sale - and they were on eBay at two and three times the price later in the day!
It's not too bad for The Who - they've been my favourites for a long time and they're the only group I'd pay that kind of money to see. It just disappoints me that there are so many groups I'd quite like to see but never will because they've priced themselves out of my reach.
It will be 30 years this May since the first time I saw The Who - I don't think I would have believed you if you'd told me then that I'd be taking my whole family to see them in 2006! And I certainly wouldn't have believed that the tickets would be more than ten times the price I paid in 1976.
I hope you get to see them - would it be your first time?

Yes. I've never seen them live, and I think it would be an awesome experience. (Not nearly as awesome as it must have been back in '76, when they still had all their original members, but still awesome nonetheless.)

Wish I could see the Who...but alas, they aren't coming to Australia.
The Superbands are becoming dinosaurs, the Rolling Stones, AC/DC, even U2 are, dare I say, not what they once were. The age of superbands are over...now it's all about medium-sized bands (Coldplay are now considered the worlds 'biggest band', a soft-rock 'indie' band). In many ways I spose, Coldplay is the natural successor of Radiohead. But anyway, going off tangent.
