Subject: Imagine: Remembering John Lennon

Still hard to believe 25 years ago today John Lennon was tragically gunned down in front of his home by Mark Chapman. I'm a big Beatles fan, but John's solo work was very good! His music could make you happy, sad, a bunch of emotions. It really got you to think, and then you knew the message. I think had John lived, he would have forgiven Mr. Chapman, and would have continued to go making great music.

Yes, I remember too well the Nightline report shortly after he was shot. :\'( Nightline started due to the Iran hostage situation and was the only national late night broadcast at that time.
I wonder how many more inspiring songs he would have recorded had some screwball not killed him.

And the fact that he had just signed a copy of his 'Double Fantasy' Album for him, well, that was really creepy. John wasn't always flanked by security people, bodygaurds, etc, he had a genuine trust in everyone I guess :-\\

The general consensus among rock critics is 'not many'...
Apart from a handful of decent solo works, his legendary canon of work was with The Beatles...same goes for Macca...
I remember that the lead single off 'Double Fantasy' ('Starting Over'), was generally met with a very lukewarm response from the UK music press...
I was just getting heavily involved with The Beatles recordings at the time and vividly remember being woken up by the bedside radio by the news just as I was getting ready for school...I was numb to say the least...
...but probably not as numb as those who grew up with him...

Very sad and not something you want to remember the day after your birthday each year. :\'(
