I was 4 or 5 when they released Satisfaction and immediately liked it.
I've seen them twice, both times in 1982. They're a bit expensive for me now!

I can't say as I remember the Rolling Stones. Who were they? ;D
Like everyone else said, they are still around. A few weeks ago, they had a UK top 20 hit with a song called Streets of Love :)

Streets of Love is a great tune, and the new "A Bigger Bang" is a great album. Sounds like the old stones stuff. I Highly recommend it!! :)

I think not knowing who the Rolling Stones on this board would make no sense at all ! I don't remember them from the 60's and 70's, but they had a few hits around the time I was born.. but, I am very familiar with most of their songs.

It's just great isn't it - I can't believe people don't know who they are ::) ::)
probably much more notable than a lot of the garbage currently around today.

Totally agree. :)
It's the same with me too. In fact, I grew up with 60's music (technically around 1964-71) in the 80's almost as much as I did with 80's music itself. So even if their heyday was fifteen years before I was born, I love alot of their material all the same.
Admittedly, it's most of the big hits I'm familar with, but they had alof of those! I like hearing how they evolved on the Hot Rocks collection (which runs chronologically). Early hits like "Time is On My Side" are very bluesy and show their roots, whereas something like "Jumpin' Jack Flash" or "Let's Spend the Night Together" (my alltime fave! :) ) just a few years later, have a straight up 60's pop/hard rock sound to them, which bands would emulate for years to come.
Even from 1964 to 1967 they sounded very different.
Of course, I like alot of their 70's hits (Brown Sugar, Beast of Burden) and 80's - especially Mick Jagger's pop influenced solo work.

The Stones are still with us...
I heard somewhere that Brian Jones used a lot of different instruments on Stones records..stuff like tambouras, marimbas, and other instruments not usually heard in rock songs of the day..
Fave Stones song...."Wild Horses" from the Sticky Fingers album..yeah the album with the 'fly' aka zippered crotch cover!
