Despite one or two good efforts, I always thought the world's first 'supergroup', Cream, were a trifle over-rated (but perhaps that's me...)
(That wasn't an intended pun - Cream and trifle - by the way...!!)

I picked Elvis, Bob Dylan, Leslie Gore, Sonny & Cher, & Bobby Darrin.
All were NOT as great as some made them out to be-I would say they were ok and I do like some of their music but they were not "All that!"

No doubt, Jefferson Airplane TOILET was the most overrated band of not only the 1960's, but perhaps one of the most overrated bands of all time. They were a second-rate garage band who just happened to be in the right place in the right time and who just happened to be friends with the right people and their importance in rock history is way overblown. There were probably better bands in Bismarck, North Dakota in 1967 than these clowns.

of that list, I choose Velvet Underground..Lou Reed is way over rated in my opinion.
Marty Balin was one of the great voices of the late sixty's and coupled with Grace Slick, they made Jefferson Airplane one of the all time great American bands.
Janis over rated?. you gotta be kiddin' :)
