Subject: The Monkees
The Monkees are the 60s.....who else would like to celebrate my addicition?
Subject: Re: The Monkees
I got into The Monkees myself in the summer of 1986 when I first saw reruns of it in syndication. Davy is my favorite of course - I also enjoyed The Brady Bunch episode he was in.
I remember when The New Monkees debuted in '87; I watched one episode and I just didn't think it was very good. Rumor has it Mike Nesmith's son auditioned for a part on that show.

The Monkees rule! Micky is my fave. I love all the episodes. I became a fan in '86, too. I've seen them in concert twice. Needless to say I was hoarse for two days afterward. I'd love to meet them.

Hey, hey! 8) I very-much enjoy listening to their tunes of yesteryear. I own most of their albums, even their late 80's one called "Pool It".

I sort of liked "Pool It". I love the newest one, "Justus". Very cool "band".

I loved The Monkees TV shows even though they were old re-runs when I first watched them in the mid 1970s.
Today, they're still being repeated on "The Disney Channel" during the school holidays and my daughters (8 and 7 years old) love the show. They particularly enjoy the arms-over-shoulders, legs-going-across-each-other walk....which I remember doing with my brother as a kid too, and of course falling over, just like my daughters :).

I met Davy. (My mother worked with him) He was supposed to come to my house for a party but didn't make it. :'( But, Mary Jo Catlett (who played the maid on Diff'nt Strokes) did make it to that party. ;D

I didn't exist in the 60s, but if I did I would have listened to The Monkees ;D
They some some pretty good tunes.

Has anyone here seen the movie "Head" starring the Monkees? I rented it about a year ago and I thought it was really cool. It came out in 1968 (toward the end of their 1960's heyday) and it was totally unlike their TV show, with much edgier skits. (I think it was produced by Jack Nicholson, before he became famous.) They spoof such things as their image as a "manufactured" band, the Vietnam War, and other things. There's a lot of cool psychedelic effects and the soundtrack (which I had never heard before) is great. It was a commercial flop when it came out (due to poor marketing) but is now a cult classic. Go check it out!
