Hi to anyone who is old enough to know this one...
In the early days of carousels they would make the ride more fun by having riders attempt to pull a brass ring out of a dispenser as the ride spun passed it.
Q: So, you get the brass ring..what was the benefit of it??
a free 2nd ride or a souvenier keepsake?
I guess you do that these days and you'll have lawsuits from anyone who pulled a muscle reaching to others who may fall off the ride!!!

While this was before my time, I do remember my mother mentioning these carousel rings before. According to her, the rings were redeemed for a free ride. Also you are right about the lack of the rings today. Too many kids were either falling off the horses, or injuring their fingers and hands during the attempts to grab the rings, so the rings were phased out...
