Subject: Worst cartoons: Pre '70's
Hands down, "Dick Tracy".
I was never familiar with it untill I watched a special on VH1.
It has to be the most politically incorrect piece of trash of all time!!!
Don't get me wrong, but I happen to be a fan of cartoons like "South Park", but it's done in good taste and it pokes fun of predjudice like most Norman Lear sitcoms in the '70's.

Oh, almost forgot: :P Even if I want to.
Casper the Friendly Ghost
Little Audrey
Herman & Catnip
Baby Huey

As a cartoon buff, any cartoon done before the days of Hanna & Barbara's "limited amimation" is better than 90% of any "toon" done today. I think todays animated shows (not toons) i.e. South Park, Simpsons, Adult Swim stuff is better written than toons from yesteryear.
Don't get me wrong, there are a lot that I don't like, and The Flinstons, Jetson and H&B stuff of that ilk is still good in my childs eye view, but if you look at the animation techniques of any toon after say 1963 it cannot compare to the artwork and skill of animators of toons like WB or MGM or even Walter Lantz of the late 40's/early 50's, not to mention Disney. Truly quality stuff.
That being said I never could stand Casper, Baby Huey, or any of the Harveytoon stuff. Terrytoons was borderline, I liked Heckle & Jeckle, but couldn't put up with the original Mighty Mouse, just too corny, even for its day. Also any Tom & Jerry toon after Chuck Jones picked it up, they were animated beautifully, but weren't funny at all...

"Dick Tracy" featured two stereotypical characters that are very politically incorrect by today's standards.
You might know what I'm talking about by watching VH1 "I llest Minority Moments".

Is one of the characters called 'Joe Jitsu'? I remember watching Dick Tracy the cartoon as a kid and just dismissed it as kid's fluff. It could have been a lot worse, Woops.

I quote a stand up comic whose name eludes me:
At the beginning of the cartoon, Casper was all alone with no friends. By the end of the Cartoon, Everybody cheered for Casper, everybody loved Casper. At the beginning of the next cartoon, Casper was all alone with no friends. What did Casper do?
Yoooowww-a-G-G-G-G-Ghoooossst!!!
The cartoons I hated the most were the Tom & Jerrys in which they were friends. I loved the old ones with Mammy Two-Shoes.
"Thomas, when I sez out, I means out, O-U-W-T, OUT!" Today, of course, that's a major no-no!
I don't dislike Popeye, but let's face it, Popeye, Bluto, and Olive Oyl were reeaalllly freaking creepy! Just the kind drug-addled degenerates you find in some of the finer seaports. The '60s Popeyes were pretty bad though, that's when Bluto was called "Brutus."
When I was in kindergarten we used to watch the '60s version of "Felix the Cat." This one pitted Felix against the evil Wizard and his bulldog, Rock Bottom. LOL! I love that name, "Rock Bottom." They were always trying to steal Felix's magic bag of tricks. Thing is, I don't remember whether it was any good or not.
Subject: A few more to mention.
"Astronut"
Little Lulu
Goofy IMO, the most annoyingly unfunny cartoon ever!
Subject: Re: Worst cartoons: Pre '70's
lol - the early Popye cartoons were funny as heck and the art work was great. Olive sounded so smug, sometimes couldn't get a word out, like she was so horny she just moned!. All of the characters mumbled and there were some funny little aside lines. I never liked the Brutus era cartoons either. Never liked Woody Woodpecker, thought he was a communist.

She was a character on The Zoo Revue. If you look at this thread, it is talked about.
