Subject: Quick question
Written By: J. J. on 02/07/04 at 05:08 p.m.
Hey, everyone! This is the first time I've posted on this board, so this question may be completely out of place, but, seeing as how the description says earlier centuries are welcome, I'll give it a shot. Does anyone know where I could get the info on how wide the dresses were back in the 1860's? Especially Mrs. Anna's dresses in the movie "The King and I". I have to get some made like hers, and I'm not quite sure how to go about it, so I'm starting here. Any help is greatly appreciated, and I hope this isn't the wrong place to ask.
Thank you!
J.J. :)

Check out this site...

The 8th dress down gives the skirt circumference as 138 inches.
Here is another site...

Hope this helps!

Thank you SOOOOOO much!!!! That helped immensely! I have to get the dresses as close to Mrs. Anna's in the movie (and they are extremely ginormous! :D ). I am still wondering about *her* dresses specifically, though, in case anyone knows.
Thanks a lot, lorac614, and anyone who took the time to read!
