My mom said to me, it was one of 3 things.
Suicide
Accidental overdose
or
she was Murdered,
personally, I think she was Murdered,
is it true that she suffered from Mental illness
I think she had Bipolar Disorder(Manic-Depression)

Yes, but what caused her death.

From all that I've seen about Marilyn Monroe, one could make a good case for bipolar disorder. People suffering from bipolar often seem happy and outgoing while suffering desperately inside. Their behavior can shift quite suddenly. Since bipolar causes impulsive behavior, sufferers sometimes commit suicide in one overpowering urge. Bipolar disorder the highest suicide rate of any mental disorder. In '60s people were much less cued into mental health issues, so they just didn't see it coming. Therefore, when MM overdosed, everyone got suspicious.

Specifically the immediate cause of death was an overdose of drugs. There will always be speculation as to whether it was accident or murder.
However, she led a life in which making bad decisions was habitual, sleeping around with married men and portraying a persona that was guaranteed to give her no respect.
I've seen her movies, pics, etc and quite frankly I could never see what all the hubbub was about. There are thousands of actresses who have more talent, better looks, and a more moral life than her.

Hard to tell. If I recall the news stories correctly, I think she had attempted suicide several times.
I can tell you this though. Her career would not be alive.

What would she be doing at 70 years old?

OMG, I just had a terrifying image of a very wrinkled, flabby, and toothless Marilyn singing "Happy Birthday, Mr. President," to George W. :P

I believe that she was murdered. Why would such a beautiful young actress want to kill herself when she had do much going for her?

How about the fact that...
..By the time of her death, studios refused to work with her because she was drunk and unreliable? She had trashed her career by then. Was thrown off a movie set (and production cancelled) due to misbehaviour.
..She became a joke and a "one night stand" to, apparently, anyone with fame? (ie, the Kennedys)
..She was a substance abuser?
..She had been institutionalized more than once prior?
Basically she was a famous, spoiled woman to whom nobody had said "no" to before. Until the Kennedys told her to buzz off, and the studios finally said get lost.
Yet another cautionary tale of what happens when you let fame go to your head. Your fans will tolerate you and feed your every vain thought. But once you fall out of favor they will not give you the time of day. MM was unprepared for the fall. Her misbehaviour was encouraged and tolerated by hangers-on, but ultimately it was her responsibility...

Let's say if she wasn't drunk OR took drugs would she still be making films at 70 today? ???

You are too cool :D NOW THIS is my subject, I absolutely LOVE Marilyn Monroe, not only was she talented (which I read about her AND read something in her own words) but she was also Beautiful and smart as hell, she read so many books....anywho I'm a huge fan and my WHOLE entire room is covered ( View my Website)! anywho
I blieve she was murdered....I'm seen so many things about her mysterious death, that I blieve she did not commit suicide, but there could be a possiblity, I mean she was so sad and lonely and nobody understood the lost little girl inside the sex symbol almost every man and some women fantasized about. But I really believe the murder story, if you want some reasons, just ask and I'll tell ya whats been documented.

I don't know what year she passed away in, I wasn't even born until 84, but what I often wonder, why is everybody so wrapped up in why people died, so long after the fact. We will never honestly know, so why can't the people whom passed away due to unknown reasons or suspicious reasons, just rest in peace? why are some people so interested in "getting to the truth" when in so many cases, the "truth" is only mere speculation?

Yeah, that's sort of a weird aspect to some people. I read recently that in Los Angeles, there was a house where 4 people were murdered 20 years ago or so, involving a celebrity and a mob figure.
The people who NOW live in the house were visited by someone who claimed to have solved the murder! As it turns out, up to that point, the current residents did not even know that the house had been the scene of the grisly crime.
My guess is that the answer to your question is "Because some people have too much time on thier hands". :-/
