Subject: Dino, Desi, & Billy
I grew up in the 80's but recently saw the group "Dino, Desi, & Billy" singing on a rerun of "The Ed Sullivan Show". They sang a song called "Not the Loving Kind". They are realllly cuuuuute! Especially Desi! Anyone remember them or can tell me anything about them?

Dino was Dean Martin's son, but he got killed in a jet fighter plane crash not too long ago, he was a pilot in the National Guard. Desi is Desi Arnaz and Lucile Ball's son. Billy was a friend, some other rich kid, I think he was Philipino and his Dad was a doctor. The 3 were young kids in the mid 60s and recorded some simple pop songs.

Not too long ago ?? it was 1987 !!
He was such a gorgeous guy - such a waste.
So how old were he and Desi in this group - I would love to see pics or a clip from it - it sounds adorable.

Desi was probably 11 or 12, Dino and Billy were about 14 when they had their one miniscule hit, "I'm sitting here all alone", some of the lyrics (to the tune of Louie Lou-eye) "You know I can't be found, yeh, I'm sittin here all alone, yeh, there's no one else around yeh, I'm sitting by the telephone......"
Anyway there's a big spread in the December 1965 issue of 16 Magazine, but don't know how to get it to you, maybe scan and e-mail if I get unlazy from being so fat and happy over Christmas, hahahaha.

Sundazed put out a 20-song compilation in '96 that has some great liner notes. You can get it at www.cduniverse.com. There's also a great website: http://riccidesibilly.com/pages/ddb.html

The song I remember from them was "I'm A Fool", which sounded a bit like "Hang On Sloopy", by the McCoys. Billy Hinsche ended up for a few years in the Beach Boys - his sister was married to Carl Wilson. Considering their age, they really weren't all that bad. They were sort of a teenage answer to Gary Lewis & The Playboys, but without the cool original songs. They recorded for Frank Sinatra's Reprise label in the mid-late '60s.

Dino, Desi and Billy!!! They were my favorite at the time! They were the same age group as me, and I had their album. They were plastered all over the Teen Magazines at the time. I read somewhere that Dino lived at 601 Mountain Drive in BH, and years later I FOUND IT!!! Up in the Hills. Talk about a wierd moment! Thats all I could think about when I was a young teen!!! My favorite song was "It aint me babe".
