Subject: Remember Red Rose Tea?
I know this is a big oldie in the Pittsburgh area, but has anyone outside of Pittsburgh ever heard this song? And do you remember the TV commercial that it was from?
The commerical had a bunch of chimps playing instruments; all in a big band format. The commercial was hilarious, and the song is good, although poorly recorded.

I don't remember the commercials but I do have relations who still drink it, although most of my family drank Nabob. Anyone here remember when you got these little glass figurines in the box of Nabob tea? This would be the early half of the '70s.

Red Rose Tea is still around! Personally I like sugar-free Nestea Iced Tea sweetened with NutraSweet! Remember the NESTEA PLUNGE?

I remember that band very well. It was a classic and I would do just about anything to get a copy of it. My kids think I am nuts when I tell them about it.

I grew up in the 'Burgh... ;D
Man, that REALLY brings back memories! I can still hear that song now... "Red Rose tea! Red Rose Tea!" with those chimps banging away on the drums. As I recall the chimps wore these red plaid vests or suit jackets. 8)
When we went shopping we BEGGED my Mum to buy Red Rose Tea. :-*
I don;t know why they never brought back that ad campaign. I GUARANTEE you that it would still work. :)

I looked at the Web and Googled it, but found nothing. Looked at eBay too, but threw snake eyes.
Maybe if you write to the Red Rose Tea Company they might know. :-/

PIT and Birmingham, AL are both called Steel City(s). You can get Iron City Beer in B'ham and also ice cold gallon jugs of sugar sweet Red Rose Tea, delicious :)

We had a duplicate conversation a couple of weeks ago here on Cape Cod. A couple of us remember the commercial quite clearly, while others have never heard of it! (Partly due to age!? We think it originally ran during the '60's.) Someone thought the song's tune was 'Salt Peanuts'. If anyone comes across the ad, we would love to know. Thanks.

Canada here. My sister drinks red rose tea and i remember the nestea plunge. i liked the commercial for it.
