Subject: Cartoon on Banana Splits Show

Written By: karen (Guest) on 05/13/03 at 06:03 a.m.

What was the correct name of the cartoon that was shown during the Banana Splits Show?

It was Something and The Arabian Nights (or Knights possibly?) I think

Can anyone here remember?

Ah! Immediate transportation to holiday morning TV!

Karen, I think it was simply titled "Arabian Knights" (or something like that) - the programme also featured a cartoon version of "The Four Musketeers" (or it might've been three!)

For its time, BS was one of the weirdest programmes ever...but certainly managed to keep my sisters and I quiet for a few minutes...

"...and now it's time for Deeeeeaarrrr Drrrrroooooper...!"

And, of course, not forgetting THAT theme tune....

Funny how selective memory is.  I can only remember Arabian Knights ("Size of an elephant") and the Three Musketeers ("All for one and one for all").  Can't remember any other cartoons with it.

Is the Sour Grapes messenger girl the one who used to dance across the set whilst some 'Mexican' guitar was played?

Happy memories of Summer Holiday morning television

Neither can I, Karen...well, I certainly don't recall any of the others that FOXVOX managed to dig up! I'm under the assumption the BBC may have "chopped and changed" certain parts of the show(s) - (they certainly used to have a habit of doing this with US imports, what with breaks for adverts and all...)

All the best!

I'm trying to get hold of the voiceover intro and theme music to the Arabian Knights portion of the show. Does anyone know where I can obtain it please?

:)

Tune in to the Boomarang network. Banana Splits were on Saturday night.

Assuming Kev can get that in the UK, which is doubtful

Thanks for the kind thought, Karen. I am on cable here so I'll try to take up Butterball's idea as it might be on one of the 100+ channels I have somewhere.

You might find this sight interesting as it has some info on "The Arabian Knights". Enjoy!!
