Subject: Whip N Chill & Phase III

Written By: AstringOfPoloponies on 05/04/03 at 03:54 p.m.

There were two packaged deserts which I loved during the 1960s but I have found not too many people remember them.
One is Whip N Chill. I think it may have been by Jello or My T Fine. It was made like pudding but was like a mousse instead of pudding. The commercial jingle went something like , (music)"Whip and Chill can be a cherry pie, Whip and Chill can be a ....."

Phase III -This was a parfait .It could have been by Jello. You follwed directions and poured the liquid into parfait glasses and it would separate into three layers-a gelatin, a merangue....and something else . These were so good but probably packed with cyclamates and Red Dye No. 2 ! LOL !

Anyone else eat these back in the day ?

I do remember Whip N Chill - seems to me it came in several flavours.  This was one of the few "pre-packaged" desserts mom ever made.  She usually made her puddings from scratch.

She also used to make something she called "whipped jelly" where she took evaporated milk, froze it then whipped it like whipped cream, then stirred in partially set jello.  There would be bits of jello surrounded by creamy goodness.

Good memories  ;D

I don't recall Phase III though - doesn't ring any bells.

I remember Whip N Chill too! YUM!
Man oh man oh man, I wish they'd bring that stuff back.
I only used to get it if I brought home A's on my report card.

I think I tried Phase III Jell-O in 1990 and it was likely the strawberry flavor that I tried. I remember the commercial for it with this plane zooming around to illustrate the layers.
