Does anybody know what the 'Aintree Iron' was in the song 'Thankyou very much' by the Scaffold in the late 1960's????????

This will be of absolutely no help I'm sure.
The only thing that Aintree means to me is that it was where Burt Reynolds (sans moustache), Ned Beatty (oink oink) and friends were headed off to in that spooky movie, "Deliverance".
Never catch me canoeing after seeing that one ! :o :o :-/

You may know that Aintree is a rural error near Liverpool with a famous racecourse where the Grand National steeplechase is held.
"Iron hoof" is slang for horse shoe, but it is also rhyming slang for "poof". Like most rhyming slang it is often shortened to just the first word and doesn't rhyme any more.
It has been suggested that the Aintree Iron refers to Brian Epstein.
