Subject: Gigantor
Does anyone remember the Gigantor series? It was my first favorite cartoon. I'd look forward to watching it when I went over to my grandmother's house.
We have a subscription to "netflix.com" and did a search, not expecting to find anything. But there they were...all 54 episodes, and with Commentary from Fred Ladd, the executive producer. Can you believe he's still alive?! The story line credits also list Mary Shelley. I wonder if that's the same Mary Shelley who wrote the origina frankenstein.
Anyway, if you get this DVD, don't look at it through your grown up eyes, or you'll kick yourself and ask "what was I thinking?!" But if you get your self a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, a glass of milk, and invite your mom over to ask you why you're watching that ridiculous cartoon when you should be doing your homework, you'll enjoy it just the same ;D

Alright MN !
I LOVED Gigantor ;D
As a little kid I particularly liked the way the small boy (was his name Jimmy ?) controlled the huge robot.
All those different movements achieved with ease by the use of 2 joysticks ! Hmmmmmm ! ::)

Jimmy Sparks, Ed Brilliant (Gigantor lived in a hangar on his mansion) and Inspector Blooper!
There has, however, been one great disadvantage to digging this memory up. My wife, who has this annoying habbit of singing along with painful TV Jingles, is now moving about the house singing "Gigantor." ;D

"Bigger than big
Taller than tall
Bigger than big
Smaller than small
Ready to fight for life
Against all !
Gigantor, Gigantor, Giga-a-antor "
The smaller than small bit never made sense to me.... ???

Gigantor the space-age robot

Gigantor was my god when I was little. I used to be Jimmy and my friend Jeremy was Gigantor and we used to fight evil in the playground. ;D
I haven't seen it for sooo long. :'( Feel very old right now.

I assume it was a legacy of being interpreted from the original Japanese.

Man, you guys got better memories than me. Being able to remember the jingle from Gigantor. I loved that cartoon when I was a kid. It was one of my favorites!
Also of course if you were a kid in the 60's:
Space Ghost
Johnny Quest (that had to be the coolest one! Nothing was cooler than Johnny Quest from the perspective of a five year old.)
Subject: Re: Gigantor
Yeah ! Johnny Quest !
I loved it as a kid, but I saw it a couple of years ago and hated it - I don't know if that means over the last 30 years I had idealised it in my mind or what ?

It must be 35 years now since I heard this but (I know remembering this is the sign of a sick mind!) I remember the last 3 lines as:
Stronger than strong
Ready to fight for right
Against wrong!
Gigantor rocks!
