Just had to throw this out, even though it's not the right board I guess:

This single was the first one Joe Elliott of Def Leppard ever purchased.  Knowing their music, it's kinda funny picturing him being ino this.  Sorry, you can have the thread back now...

That's a very interesting little bit of trivia, ThunderVamp!  Yes, it is hard to imagine Joe Elliott buying something so "sugary"!  LOL!  ;D

Anyone remember Iron Butterfly's "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" song? Now, that has got to be one of the longest one-hit wonder songs of all time (but "Rock Me Amadeus" is a pretty long song in its entirety). "Vida" is one of the greatest songs ever written (at least according to me).

I would hardly call Lou Christy a one-hit wonder.
What about "Two Faces Have I", "The Gypsy Cried", "Rhapsody in the Rain"?

While we're mentioning one-hit wonders with squeaky voices, however, my nominee is Rocky Fellers, a group of 9 or 10 year old boys (judging by their sound) who sang "Killer Joe".

If you want to cheat a little and mention 2-hit wonders, how about that other group from the Pittsburgh area (home to Lou Christy) - the Vogues?   "You're the One" and "Five O-clock World" (the only song I know from the Sixties featuring yodeling)?

I was just looking at the old threads and this particular one intrigued me.... why? I saw so many one-hit-wonders listed that had several hits... so here's a "Do you remember?" post... see if you remember "those other songs" by some of the groups here:)

Archies - "Bang-Shang-A-Lang", "Jingle Jangle", "Feeling So Good (S.k.o.o.b.y-D.o.o.)" OK, Feeling So Good wasn't top 40, I just like it ;)

Procol Harum - "Homburg", "Conquistador"(post-70s, but a great tune)

Royal Guardsmen - "Baby Let's Wait", "Wednesday" Wednesday is another non-top 40 that I just really like

The Toys - "Attack"

Scott McKenzie - "Like An Old Time Movie"

The Tokens - "I Hear Trumpets Blow", a cover of "Portrait Of My Love"

Johnny Preston - "Cradle Of Love"

Bobby "Boris" Pickett - "Monster's Holiday"

? And The Mysterians - "I Need Somebody", "Can't Get Enough Of You Baby" ... CGEOYB also goes under the "I happen to really like it." category

Cyrkles - "Turn Down Day" ... and ending with two I just happen to like, "Please Don't Ever Leave Me" and "I Wish You Could Be Here"

Just having some fun remembering these songs as I read the posts...:)

Are you all sure Gene Pitney didn't sing "Down in the Boondocks"? He probably didn't-I have very few functioning brain cells left.I remember a song called "Too Much To Dream(Last Night) by the Electric Prunes.Did they sing anything else?

I agree, Lou Christy had a few.  But then, the Vogues had more than that, too.  They "broke in" w/the "You're the One" to fit the rock mold, then also had other hits more their type - "easy listening".  A cover of "Special Angel" and also "Look at Me" (if that's what it was called).  I think they had some others but having trouble recalling right now.

That, of course, is the same song Smash Mouth recorded.

Also, a group almost everybody considers a one-hit wonder, Steam, followed up "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" with "I've Gotta Make You Love Me."  When was the last time you heard that?  If you were around then, probably when it was on the chart.

Another group that a lot of people consider a one-hit wonder, Strawberry Alarm Clock, followed up "Incense & Peppermints" with "Tomorrow," a good song, but radically different from "Incense & Peppermints."

I'm trying to find lyrics etc. to a song from way back when. The chorus goes "One more time around Picadilly Circus, Driver follow that bus. It's a shame the way the rich folk work us, Everybody's rich but us." Can anyone help please?
