Subject: Your first "music celebrity" crush
Written By: nicole1977 on 03/06/09 at 9:33 pm
I was looking at the "Your first 'TV star' crush" thread, and I feel that I should do the music version of this particular thread so here's my first "music star" celebrity crushes:
My very first "older man" music celebrity crushes were Michael Jackson, Jeffrey Osbourne, Kid from Kid and Play, and Bobby Brown.
My very first "boy closer to my age" music celebrity crushes were Hakim Abdulsamad from The Boys (Dial My Heart) and Tevin Campbell.
Anybody who has their very first "music star" celebrity crush, just post it right here. Thank you.

My first music celebrity crush was Candice Pennella, known simply as Candi. She was like Canada's version of Paula Abdul, popular around the same time and scored a handful of hits, the biggest of which was Under Your Spell in 1989

Though I'm now into her music, I actually thought Deborah Gibson was hot about a decade ago (I aready knew she was long already an adult).
Ironically the same time as the 1999/early 2000's pop princesses, which several I don't find appealing. I
also thought the Go-Go's and Toni Basil were cute.
I've been told that I had a thing for Paula Abdul, though I don't even remember since I was about 5 when she was popular :D

Have you seen her lately? She has not aged well at all.
My first music crush would be Sean Cassidy.

Well, at least you get to fantasize of you and her getting physical even though it may never happen in real life. Take it from me. I used to fantasize about me and Tevin making love but I know that it will never happen. I wanted to though.

My sister had a big Shaun Cassidy poster in her room. It was Shaun in football togs. I think it was one of his more popular posters. I just couldn't understand when she fell so hard for Steven Tyler. I thought he looked like a woman...a big ugly gross woman! How was I to know? I guess you had to be a female!

When I was a younger, it seems like I had more "older man" music celebrity crushes than "closer to my age" crushes. I guess it's because in the early to mid 80s, the "closer to my age" music celebrites were too young to make a name for themselves in the music world until the late 80s and early 90s when The Boys (Dial My Heart) and Tevin Campbell came along, but before them, it was mostly "older man" music celebrity crushes like Michael Jackson, Bobby Brown, and Jeffrey Osbourne.

'Edge' from 1988. I got it because the hits 'As the Days Go By' and 'All I Do' both qualified for Canadian Content. Over here, Sherbet had no hits, but they did chart 2 minors in the US with 'Howzat' and 'I Have the Skill' (as The Sherbs)

I can understand a crush with both of them.
However, ONJ always seemed like the type of girl you could take home to meet your parents.
Debbie on the other hand you would not, because you would be afraid she would run off with your dad. ;D

Good question. :) Mine would be a tossup between Paula Abdul and Amy Grant back in 1991.
Can't think of many around my age that were singers. Then again I was only 9-10, so most of my crushes were on someone older, lol (i.e. teen girls and younger adult women).
