Subject: What was No.1 on the day you were born?

Written By: Mudbug on 03/06/08 at 11:57 am

Have you ever done this? http://www.thisdayinmusic.com

It shows you what song was at No.1 on the day you were born.

(Go to 'Birthday No.1' at the top of the site).

My number 1's are:
'You're So Vain' by Carly Simon in the US
'Long Haired Lover From Liverpool' by Little Jimmy Osmond in the UK
'Ben' by Michael Jackson in Australia

Some are better than others!

It was an update of an old Hank Williams C&W song from the 40s...

And, rather typical of Hank's songs, it was a bit of a maudlin affair... :-\\

I don't think so... :-\\

...or wait...

...you can always try the site of the Dutch Top 40 itself. You can find any Top 40 from the very beginning (January 1965) there.
If you scroll down a bit, you'll see a tiny window that reads with a down arrow next to it. Click the arrow and you can pick any chart.
You'll have to know what week * you were born though, 'cause it doesn't give you a date option.

And of course it doesn't have all the search options that everyhit.com has for UK Top 40...

* or thereabout...A lot of years seemed to have had only 51 weeks, according to Dutch Top 40. :-\\

October 25th, 1967.

"To Sir, With Love" by Lulu. Always liked the song, and adored the movie.  :)

Interesting, as my parents married October 26th, 1966. Exactly one year and a day MORE than my birthday!

Guess you can say, I have no way to forget my parents anniversary! ;)

My birthday is exactly one day less (and one year) than my parents anniversary, each year!  8)

And yes, they are still married. It will be 42 years this October!  8)

For October 25, 1967 it was "Massachusetts" by the Bee Gees over here.

Does anyone know what was number one in Australia and the USA on the of my birth (September 8th 1957)?

September 8, 1957... "Ik Sta Op Wacht" by Joop de Knegt or Hans Brandel (both versions were listed). Not a song you know, I reckon, so here's a link for the Joop de Knegt version (as performed in 1988).
