Subject: Fight scenes!

Sure, the 20 minute fight in They Live is amazing. Even better when it was re-created on South Park.
BUT
last night I saw my man Viggo Mortensen kick some easter european butt....butt naked! that movie was gory bur the plot was great.
Two huge guys in intimidating gangster gear come intothe sauna and pounce..and he brings it on full force. The spa ends up a bloody mess and he definately will feel it in the morning, but wow, what a great fight.
So, your favorite fight scenes?

Uma Thurman and Daryl Hannah in Kill Bill Volume 2. Word is they HATED each other on the set, so the animosity shines through in their fistfight/kung fu/sword fight scene. Awwww yeah....
Actually, now that I think about it, all the fight scenes were good in Kill Bill, although the whole Yakuza/Lucy Liu part was a bit more bloody than it should have been. But the swordfight between Uma and Lucy in the snow while Santa Esmeralda sang their interpretation of "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood".....classic.
Can't tell I love those movies, can ya? :D
I'll think of some more later. Now I have a hankering to watch Kill Bill.

Errr, isn't it obvious.
Rocky vs Ivan Drago, the culmination of the greatest film ever made - Rocky IV.
When Rocky beats Drago and by proxy, Communism itself, the world rejoices.
I mean, just look at it. Drago kills Creed, Rocky's best friend in the whole world (because let's face it, his relationship with Pauly is on a different level) and then the cold indifference that Drago has to Apollo's death torments Rocky to the point where he knows he must face this monster, even if it means he has to die.
So Rocky, being the bravest man that ever lived, travels to the evil Soviet Union in the cold winter to face Drago in Moscow on Christmas Day, could this be any more poignant?
The fight itself is a test of endurance. One steroid, machine built Russian, facing off against Rocky, the last bastion of freedom and hope in a world crushed under the totalitarian heel of soviet authority. Drago pounds on Rocky, with thundering punch after punch, but he can't knock Rocky off his feet. On sheer guts alone Rocky stays standing, they go the full 15 rounds and Drago is stunned at Rocky's incredible guts.
Because they understand that freedom doesn't come free, the Soviet crowd risk execution and begin to chant Rocky's name, heralding a new dawn of Pro-Rocky Russia.
The bell rings for the final round and Rocky comes out, he takes blow after blow from Drago, the world knows Rocky is done, but.. he's not. He knows, that sometimes, when you want to just give up and collapse, you must search within yourself and pull that last bit of strength out, from deep inside, to never give up and refuse to just fall flat on your face and collapse, as Rocky hauls off, he stuns Drago with a strong left, again and again and again, Rocky is a man possessed, with the free world on his shoulders Rocky goes after his evil communist assailant and finally after a bone crushing fight, knocks Drago down and wins, proving once and for all that the will of good men can triumph over the forces of communism (and by default - evil).
After the fight, Rocky shows his class by extending a hand to the Soviet Union, ensuring that they have the option to become free themselves when he says "If I can change... and you can change... everybody can change!" With this stirring speech Rocky proves that he is the hero that the world needs.

Lou's fight with Tyler Durden in Fight Club - pretty insane!
So was Edward Norton's fight with himself in his boss' office.
They're both on part 8 of 14 of Fight Club on YouTube.

Thank you!
I'm glad somebody else appreciates Rocky IV the way I do, not as a movie, but as a documentary of one man's brave struggle against totalitarianism. Triumph in the face of overwhelming adversity. Rocky epitomizes the spirit that has made America the great nation it is now, if more people were like Rocky, belief in the face of denial, strength, determination, pride.. fighting the good fight, instead of obsessing over leather trim and metallic finishes, this country would be a better place.

It's nice to know someone else is out there analyzing these films and seeing a deeper message and meaning in them.
Rocky IV is often dismissed as a crap film but you've just justified why it deserves a second look!

THANK YOU!
I think anybody that dismisses the cinematic merits of Rocky IV is clearly a communist sympathizer.

;D
btw I haven't yet decided on my answer... I could pick a slew of fight scene from Buffy the Vampire Layer Slayer but that would be too obvious.
The scenes from Kill Bill 1 & 2 would be on my list...specifically Uma and Vivica but since its been mentioned...
Also I cannot improve on the commentary of the Drago/Balboa fight and it was the best fight of the series since the first fight between Apollo & Rocky.
So I gotta get back to you.
Maybe... Ripley versus the Alien in ALIENS comes to mind ..... but I can do better

Every time the chicken shows up, I'm on the edge of my seat. (That was the first fight. Without getting RickRolled, can we find the next three/four fights?)
