Milli Vanilli since they didn't actually "sing", but they ended up getting it taken away from them.

Marc Cohn as Best New Artist One Year
"Sunny Came Home", one of the worst songs to win Song of the Year/Record of the year
I can go on and on, but those I can remember right now.

Jethro Tull's Metal Grammy in 1988. Leaving off whether or not they can be called "metal" or not, Tull had some GREAT albums in the 70's, but were long past their prime by this point...and to make matters worse this album beat out Metallica's great "...and Justice For All" for the honor.

I was waiting for someone to pick this. More than just stupid, it's confusing as hell. Jethro Tull was never at any point in their careers considerd a "metal" band.

Was a very strange one, that...
Rickie Lee Jones won the Best New Artist Grammy in 1979...
Right...
Apart from 'Chuck E.'s In Love', what else did she do? ;)

Best New Artist isn't a retrospective award. At the time she won, she was probably the best of the new artists out at the time. NARAS can't look into the future and see if their pick is going to turn into a one-hit wonder.

Aww, I like both of those. ;)
I kinda agree that overall Marc Cohn was a little boring to listen to as a whole (not much difference in tempo or styles). But the one big hit he had - "Walking in Memphis" - was a great pop ballad in '91. I used to see the video on VH1 all the time when I was 9 or 10 (btw, for those who don't know, in the early '90s, VH1 was more of a soft rock/80s pop video mix).
"Sunny Came Home" was a Lilith Fair-type ballad and also one of my favorites from '97.

The Swingle Singers, who won the Best New Artist for 1963.
Who are they and what was their big hit record?
Lesley Gore was more deserving!

2004 - Best Dance Recording for "Toxic" by Britney Spears
I didn't like this because she isn't a dance artist, but still managed to beat out actual dance artists like Basement Jaxx and the Chemical Brothers
She also beat out Kylie Minogue, who I felt deserved it.

Kylie did deserve it yes. 'Slow' was a fantastic tune, and 2 zillion kazillion times better than Toxic
I'm not a fan of that song, but I thought it was miles better than Toxic.
