Well, yesterday it was "The Marvelous Toy", in 1969 by Tom Paxon.  I wrote a parody to it-My Wireless Tones about the multitude of sounds eminating from my PDA (worked off of a Peter, Paul and Mary recording of the song).

I wrote most of the parody early in the day.  Then, in the late afternoon,  I took the DC Metro downtown to go meet a friend.  I hung out for a while in a coffee shop, putting the finishing touches on the song.  Everyone around me must have thought I was nuts....i was humming, singing softly to myself, tapping my foot, laughing.  We've all been there, "amiright"?

Happy New Year everyone!

It came out in 1952 apparently. I reckon you might recognise it when you hear it as it's often one of the first tunes you play on a keyboard.

The old Hoagy Carmichael song?

If 'tis, then Jan & Dean did an interesting version, complete with the most out-of-tune piano solo ever committed to record...

Yep, that's the one. Jan and Dean tried to give it the doo-wop treatment and for some reason it didn't work for me. Besides they seemed to drone the lyrics all the way through it. You are right about the piano Paul, lol. It either needed a fine tuning or was waiting for it's voice to break.

The Four Aces used a more traditional arrangement and the bouncy conclusion is catchy.
